Museums

Trust in Long-Standing Foundry Art.

Renowned museums choose to collaborate with Art Factory Schmäke because of their trust in our exceptional craftsmanship. Restoration of artworks is a key focus, where skill and expertise give new life to "old" pieces. When necessary or possible, the foundry carries out restorations on-site or handles the transportation of artworks.

For example, the Wilhelm Lehmbruck Museum in Duisburg commissioned Kunstgießerei Schmäke to restore several sculptures by Marcks, Stadler, Ehlers, and Wilhelm Lehmbruck himself.

This work included removing rust spots, patching holes, replacing aged internal anchors, as well as applying new patinas and protective wax coatings.

The company’s history has also been honored in collaboration with the Düsseldorf City Museum through a dedicated exhibition.

Artists

Collaboration with Artists.

From the very beginning, Art Factory Schmäke has maintained a particularly close relationship with artists. Today, close cooperation between the foundry, its team, and the artists remains paramount.

This close bond ensures that sculptures are realized exactly as the artist envisioned. From model making and scaling up to mold production — sometimes even in the artist’s own studio — the company supports artists throughout the process. Artists are also welcome to work on their pieces within the foundry.

Many prominent figures in the art scene have entrusted Art Factory Schmäke to realize their sculptures to the highest standards.

Cities & Municipalities

Cities and Municipalities in Focus.

Kunstgießerei Schmäke has produced numerous sculptures by renowned artists commissioned by municipalities.

We are the ideal partner for cities and communities that value reliability, high quality, punctuality, and comprehensive service in producing sculptures, fountains, and restorations.

Churches

Sacred Art from the Foundry.

Art has always played an important decorative role in church life. Numerous sculptures bring biblical stories to life in a vivid and understandable way. Whether restoring or creating new sculptures, Kunstgießerei Schmäke offers churches a broad range of experience and services.

Many works have been created for churches by artist and sculptor Bert Gerresheim, including the portals of the Basilica in Kevelaer.

The foundry also cast the renowned portals of the Cologne and Salzburg Cathedrals.

Young Talents

Always there for the next generation.

As the saying goes, “No master is born from the heavens.” That is why supporting young talent is of particular importance to Art Factory Schmäke and is given special status. This begins with dedicated mentoring and is reflected in “student pricing.”

Most importantly, young artists can realize their ideas while having someone to guide and personally advise them.

Art students from the Düsseldorf Art Academy especially enjoy these benefits, but students and young artists from elsewhere are always warmly welcomed and invited to visit the workshops.

Social Commitment

Making a Difference Through Craftsmanship.

Whether it’s a bronze heart for the organization “Ein Herz für Kinder” (A Heart for Children) or cooperating with the carnival association to create the annual plaque honoring the prince and princess,

Kunstgießerei Schmäke aims not only to work with artists but also to give back to society through its craftsmanship.

In addition to supporting UNICEF, the company supports the Düsseldorf Children’s Dreams Foundation and other charitable organizations.

They contributed with dedication to the creation and realization of the fountain for the Rainbowland Children’s Hospice.
