Services
Models
At Art foundry Schmäke model making knows no limits. Everything is possible, tailored to individual requirements and developed in close collaboration with artists.
Models are either enlarged on-site or upon request in the artists studio or they are reproduced to scale. The artist has complete freedom to choose from a wide range of materials including plaster, styrofoam, wood, clay or wax.
Bronze Casting
The bronze is cast at a temperature of 1200° Celsius.
Lost-Wax Casting
In 1960 the lost-wax casting department was established at Schmäke and professionally developed with expertise of specialists from Rome and Paris.
Today Schmäke remains at the forefront of innovation, continuously refining the lost-wax casting process to ensure the highest quality casts. This technique is especially suited for sculptures with complex forms or where exceptional surface precision and sharpness are required.
Chasing
In the workshop of Schmäke, artworks are perfected by skilled chasers after casting. The process includes polishing, grinding and chasing - with great precision and expertise.
This is how the chasers put the finishing touches on the artworks, realizing the piece fully in accordance with the artists vision - until complete satisfaction is achieved.
Restauration
Restoration work demands the highest level of trust, which Schmäke provides through its extensive experience.
With over 95 years of company history Schmäke has proven itself in extensive and prestigious restoration projects. These include professional cleaning, stabilization, patina restoration and final conservation.
Notable restoration examples include the „Kaiser-Wilhelm-Monument“, the „Bismarck-Monument“, the „Kaiser-Karl-Denkmal“ in Aachen and many more
